Clear Goals Help Keep Employees on Track

Health insurance eats up businesses’ profits and employees’ paychecks. With healthcare reform beginning to be implemented, a number of companies are still unsure of how they will be affected by the new laws. However, there are ways they can shave off expenses.

Employees who are healthier are less likely to require medical attention. However, for some people, their own well-being isn’t enough of an incentive to get into shape. Employers can play an active role in helping their staff improve their lifestyles.

A survey conducted by RedBrick Health reveals that when employers established measurable health goals for their staff, they were 63 percent more engaged.

RedBrick Health CEO Kyle Rolfing says employees have to be very involved in turning their health around in order for wellness programs to work.

“We estimate that employers need two to three times the typical engagement rates to have a real tangible impact on the health of their employees. The good news here: driving higher engagement rates is within employers’ control.”

According to Towers Watson, employers need to have an engaged staff to be successful not just in achieving healthcare goals, but with company initiatives as well.
