Amanda Lamb: Parents can save money by being inventive on holiday
Parents can use their imagination to think of holiday activities and keep their little ones entertained, it is suggested.
Travel insurance policyholders looking to save money when booking a holiday for the whole family might be wise to use their imagination.According to A Place in the Sun presenter Amanda Lamb, speaking on behalf of MasterCard Prepaid, there are plenty of destinations that have something to offer those short on cash. She says selecting resorts close to beaches or forests is a good idea, as children can make their own fun at such destinations.”When we were kids we never went anywhere that actually cost lots of money, yet we seemed to spend hours of fun on a beach,” Ms Lamb notes.Little ones might like to explore the sands by digging for hidden treasure and the expert says being inventive and coming up with more free games is fun for all involved.European destinations have a lot to offer families, but it is important to bear in mind all the extra costs involved with heading overseas.Portugal and Spain are some of the most popular choices, while France is described as a “fantastic option” because there are many ways to get there that offer good deals, Ms Lamb continues. Her comments follow a study by MasterCard Prepaid, which advised those heading on a short bank holiday break this weekend – the last one before Christmas – to keep an eye on their budgets. One way to save money would be to “be a bit adventurous” and wait for last-minute deals to crop up on chosen holiday dates, Ms Lamb adds.
