4 PediaCare OTC children’s medicines recalled

Four types of PediaCare over-the-counter children’s medications have been recalled because they were made in the same Pennsylvania facility that produced contaminated lots of Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl and Zyrtec recalled in May.

The medications, made for Blacksmith Brands by McNeil Consumer Healthcare, include all lots of PediaCare Multi-Symptom Cold, PediaCare Long Acting Cough, PediaCare Decongestant, and PediaCare Allergy and Cold. (See the labels.)

In a statement on its website, Blacksmith Brands said it had received no complaints about the medications. “As a precautionary step, we have initiated our own recall to address any possible concerns that parents may have,” said CEO Peter Mann. “If you have already purchased any of the recalled products, please throw them away.”

If you’ve purchased these medications, find out more about the recall on our Safety blog. And take a look at these home remedies for treating your child’s cold.
